Coffeecups and Sunbeams

Coffeecups and Sunbeams

As I lay down upon the floor,
To read of Jeeves, and Wooster;
A bright sunbeam my back did tour,
Lighting dust missed by the duster.

And when it shone upon my mug,
An amber gold my coffee turned;
Distracting me from some poor pug,
Running a race it had not earned.

Oasis in a white desert,
Brown coffee above the carpet,
I love coffee, I do assert,
When the sun makes it its target.

So I'll always wonder and gaze,
When sunbeams set my cup ablaze.
