Teeth...what do they have to do with wisdom?
Yo! Since last blogging, I've been subjected to the extraction of something I like to think of as near and dear to me--my wisdom[teeth]. The exact operation was quite painless (I was asleep for the whole thirty minutes), and after the grogginess had somewhat abated, I went home. Spending the rest of the day in bed, I gradually recovered. I think I'm still getting over it, but I'm well on the mend.
What is interesting to me; what I find curious, is that two pieces of enamel could have anything to do with the higher functions--as in to the nth degree--of the brain. It just doesn't make sense. Oh, I suppose that some people say that it's because of when your wisdom teeth come in. Right...my grandma had to have her's out not too long ago--what does that mean? Does this mean conversely that we should have "stupid beards," for those who decide to grow them before they are wise? The possibilities are almost endless, and there has to be a good reason for some of these things.
And there's another question: If these teeth make you wise, why are they always removed? Does this reflect rather poorly on our culture or what? Don't answer that...especially with 'what.' But seriously, wisdom should be desired, cultivated, and maintained. Not encapsulated in hard little white things that we strive to eradicate at the first feasible opportunity. There, I think that should fill the rambling quota...:~)
